Recurring Invoices & RetainersPro & Business PlanUpdated October 5, 2026
Pausing, resuming, or skipping recurring invoices
Pause or resume a recurring schedule, skip the next invoice, or create the next invoice now as a draft.
Client engagements change over time. Open a schedule under Recurring to pause, resume, skip, or edit it without losing its setup.
Schedule actions
- Pause: Stops new invoices from being created. Missed periods are never billed later when you resume.
- Resume: Restarts the schedule from its next scheduled date.
- Skip next: Skips only the next invoice without changing the frequency. Click Don't skip next to undo it.
- Create next invoice now: Creates the next invoice today, always as a draft for you to review and send.

Helpful TipClick Edit to change line items and rates. Changes apply from the next invoice; invoices already created stay as they are.
