Adding line items, discounts, and custom rates
Add line items with decimal hour quantities, set the invoice tax rate, and apply percentage or fixed discounts.
Invollo invoices accommodate hourly freelance work, fixed project milestones, physical or digital deliverables, and expense pass-throughs.
Line item options
- In the invoice form, click Add Item to insert a new row.
- Enter a clear Description of the work or deliverable.
- Set Qty / hrs: decimal values like 3.75 hours or whole numbers like 1 unit both work.
- Set Rate in the invoice currency.
- Choose the invoice's tax rate below the items. One tax rate applies to the whole invoice.
- To apply a discount, pick a Discount Type (Percentage or Fixed Amount) and enter the Discount Value.
Helpful TipTo bill tracked time on a new invoice, pick an hourly project in Project (Optional). Invollo replaces the items with one line, "<project> - Time tracking", with all of the project's logged hours at its hourly rate. Check the hours before sending.
